Alexander Dierks
Director
Alexander has over thirty years of experience in protective relay, meter testing and high voltage plant testing. He received his practical training at Eskom Distribution in Brackenfell before joining OMICRON electronics GmbH in Austria as a Sales and Application Engineer.
Since 1997 he is managing Alectrix, which is the exclusive distributor for OMICRON equipment in South Africa. Alex has delivered dozens of papers at local and international conferences and symposiums on subjects such as protective relay testing, maintenance and diagnosis of power transformers, current transformers, circuit breakers and other substation assets, as well as aspects of power system simulation.

Christo Venter
Senior Applications Engineer - Secondary Plant
Christo has twenty-one years of experience in the testing of protective relays, measurement and Scada systems as well as hands-on programming experience. He studied Electrical Engineering (National Higher Diploma) at OFS Technikon. Christo received his practical training at Eskom Distribution in Bloemfontein. He subsequently worked in various positions in Eskom Distribution in Bloemfontein and George as well as Eskom Transmission in Bloemfontein during his twenty years with Eskom. Presently he is Sales and Applications Engineer with Alectrix, responsible for the range of secondary test equipment from OMICRON.
Herman Viljoen
Senior Applications Engineer - Primary Plant
Herman has eighteen years of experience in the protective relay as well as primary plant testing. Herman studied Electrical Engineering (B.Eng.) at the University of Pretoria. He received his practical training at Eskom PTM Witbank and has subsequently worked in various positions during his seventeen years with Eskom PTM Witbank. Presently he is Senior Sales and Applications Engineer with Alectrix, responsible for the range of primary test equipment from OMICRON.
Riaan Louw
General Manager
Riaan has over fourteen years of industry related experience in the fields of primary and secondary plant testing. He studied Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the Tshwane University of Technology. Riaan started his career in Eskom gaining experience in protection, metering, transformers, switchgear, etc., through the various departments. After Eskom, Riaan went into the private sector at CONCO Energy Solutions as a Factory Acceptance Engineer, later to become the Factory Acceptance Engineering Team Leader, responsible for all factory acceptance quality checks, standards, procedures, design, engineering, and factory acceptance testing within the Factory Acceptance Team. Presently he is the Sales and Customer Care Engineer with Alectrix, responsible for sales, after sales support, and general customer satisfaction.
Kevin Mattheus
Applications Engineer
Kevin has over thirty years of experience in protective relay, meter testing and high voltage plant testing. He received his practical training at Eskom Distribution in Eskom Southern Region on a wide range of philosophies, including Generation, Distribution and Transmission. He resigned from Eskom in 2008 to further his career in the private sector, namely by opening a company called High Voltage Strategies & Solutions. Since 2008 he has operated under the banner of HVSS, performing contractual, consulting and training portfolios.
Kevin is a proud member of the Alectrix training team, operating across the length and breadth of Southern Africa.
Kevin has been intimately involved with OMICRON & a wide range of the equipment since 1998, emphasis placed on protective relay testing, maintenance and diagnosis of power transformers, current transformers, circuit breakers and other substation assets.
